At our roots

Hi, I'm Alice - Founder, grower, and the person who genuinely believes your windowsill can change the way you eat.

What started as a love of growing microgreens at home became a mission - to help more people cut fresh greens onto their plate moments before dinner, grown less than a metre from their kettle. No garden. No green fingers. No complicated systems.

Just seeds. A windowsill. And the quiet pride of saying "I grew this."

We believe small habits matter. Choosing organic seeds. Growing a handful of greens at home. Eating something real that you grew yourself. Every step supports better health and a kinder planet.

And you're never growing alone, there's a whole community of growers here, and we're with you every step of the way.

One seed. One tray. One small moment of care at a time.

Answers to our most FAQs

What are Microgreens?

Microgreens are the young seedlings of edible plants, such as broccoli, red cabbage, radish and rocket. They’re harvested shortly after germination, when the first leaves have developed, and are eaten fresh.

Despite their small size, microgreens can be remarkably nutrient-dense and are packed with flavour, colour and a variety of naturally occurring plant compounds.

Quick and easy to grow indoors, many varieties can be ready to harvest in just 7–10 days.

Why are Microgreens considered a Superfood?

Microgreens may be tiny, but they can be remarkably nutrient-dense. Research has found that some microgreens can contain up to 40 times higher concentrations of certain nutrients than their mature plant counterparts, although levels vary depending on the variety and nutrient.

This concentration of vitamins, carotenoids and other beneficial plant compounds is why microgreens are often described as a superfood.

They’re also an easy way to add fresh greens, colour, flavour and a variety of nutrients to everyday meals.

What makes Mircogreens so good for me?

All Microgreens contain Beta carotene from which the body makes vitamin A, Carotenoids – lutein and zeathanthin, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Calcium, Polyphenols (formerly called Antioxidants). In addition to the nutrients listed above, each Microgreen has a good source of other nutrients available in our health benefits section.

How do I use Microgreens?

You can add them to salads, smoothies, sprinkle them over soups, stir them into stews and add them to stir-fries, curries, risottos, pasta bakes and casseroles – the sky’s the limit!

How much do I need and how long will a bag last?

Each individual seed bag contains enough seeds for approximately 3–4 harvests, depending on your container size and the variety. Our curated seed sets give you even more, with multiple varieties and plenty of fresh harvests to enjoy.

Can I grow Microgreens without a garden?

Microgreens are incredibly easy to grow, even for the least green-fingered of people! Whether you live in a studio apartment or a sprawling mansion, you only need a small space to place your kitchen windowsill garden. There’s no need to worry about seasons – these little wonders grow all year round!

Can I grow Microgreens all year round?

Yes! That is one of the many benefits of microgreens. They can be grown on your windowsill or any shelf inside your home all year round.

What if my seeds don't grow?

All our seeds are covered by our Happy Harvest Guarantee. If you have any issues, we’re here to help with advice and support.

I am a serial plant killer - how do I know this will work for me?

We've converted thousands of plant killers into successful growers! Sharing our knowledge from urban farming we have created inclusive fool proof instructions and also have videos available that you can access should you need extra guidance. We also have a private facebook group you will be invited to join.

Do your seeds have an expiry date?

For best results, we recommend sowing your seeds soon after receiving them. However, if stored in a cool, dry place away from damp, seeds can remain viable for a long time.

Seeds are remarkably resilient. In fact, scientists have successfully germinated ancient seeds thousands of years old, showing just how long seeds can hold onto life when stored well.

How are microgreens different from cress?

Confusingly, the term ‘cress’ also has a second meaning. Once a sprout grows its first leaves, it becomes a cress. Microgreens are harvested when they have developed their first set of leaves which are called cotyledons. Depending on the Kit you choose we have over 16 varieties of Microgreens available.
